How to prepare and run a PromptBattle event — URLs, match flow, and live controls.
Who does what in the room
PromptBattle has no login accounts. Each role opens a URL; participants additionally enter a 5-digit PIN for their match.
Before go-live
- Create event — name, date, number of rounds.
- Setup wizard — round times and formats → tasks per match → mark setup ready.
- Add participants — mark who is present (absent players stay off the opening bracket).
- Go live — opening-round pairings are assigned from the present queue (FCFS).
Match flow (one task)
Advance each phase from the Current match card. Best-of-3 repeats prompt entry after each task win until the match is decided.
| Phase | Your action | Room |
|---|---|---|
| Waiting | Confirm players (✓), hand out PIN pills, reject absent players (✗) | Players sign in at /play |
| Prompt entry | Start prompt entry; timer runs | Players write prompts; public shows saved text |
| Locked → KI → Presentation | Lock prompts → Start KI → Start presentation | Helpers copy prompts; KI on external screens |
| Presentation | Audience votes; you record winner | Public stays on this match until winner is entered |
Live control panel
Only Current and Next matches are expanded; all other bracket matches stay collapsed by round.
Parallel overlap
While the current match is in presentation, the next match can already receive prompts — but the projector keeps showing the current match until you record the winner.
Quick checklist (each match)
- Confirm both players; share PINs.
- Start prompt entry when ready.
- Wait for timer / both saves → Lock prompts.
- Start KI execution → helpers use copy boxes.
- Start presentation → audience votes → record winner.
- Prepare next match (confirm / PINs) once current prompts are locked.
